From queer day:

Ellen DeGeneres’ new squeeze and Arrested Development star Portia De Rossi is finally getting ex-girlfriend Francesca Gregorini’s tattooed initials removed from her right ring finger. Gregorini is Ringo Starr’s stepdaughter for those not paying attention and her and de Rossi were together for three years before the big break up. As for the tattoo, de Rossi told Details, “I’m not saying it’s anything I regret doing, because I don’t, but it just doesn’t make any sense now.”

Once again, I just don’t get it. Wouldn’t you consider that you may break up with someone one day before you get the tattoo? And if you got the tattoo because you love the person and want a symbol of that love on your body, do you no longer love them? Are they no longer a part of you? Has the whole time this person was so much a part of your life been deleted from your memory? Maybe what I really don’t get is how easily love comes and goes for some.

I understand removing an initial tattoo if the person did something truly horrible to you, or they never really were the person you thought they were. But because it didn’t work out? You shouldn’t get a tattoo of someone’s initials if you envision it possibly making “no sense,” for any reason, in the future.
