On New Year’s Resolutions
Yesterday I had to sit around and wait. And there was nothing to read but Family Circle, which had a few celebrity quotes about the upcoming new year on its “Words to Live By” page.
From Ben Affleck:
I think that resolutions are jinxes. So I’m not going to resolve anything. Then maybe I’ll do all the things I want to do – by not resolving to do them.
I feel the same way. I resolve to not resolve.
Will you be making any New Year’s resolutions?
Never have, never will. Life (mine anyway) is way too unpredictable to say, “I’m (not) going to …” about any part of it. Live each day well and decide what to do about tomorrow when it gets here.
Last year was “no jive in 2005”. What a bunch of crap. So this year, I’m resolving not to make any asinine resolutions.
I’m not as pure as Jami. I used to make resolutions, but I gave them up for Lent about 25 years ago.
Not being as pure as me leaves you a LOT of leeway!
