Michael Streater, who pleaded guilty to murder and first-degree arson, will be sentenced for up to thirty years in prison (a win for Streater considering the possible life sentence he could have received if convicted of the crimes at trial) on January 6th for killing 24-year-old Jessica Mercado, a transsexual, and then setting fire to the crime scene.

Streater claims that he killed Jessica in self-defense; that she tried to rob him at knifepoint. If you killed someone in self-defense, would you accept up to thirty years in prison without a fight?
