The owner of two men-only guesthouses in Cape Town would rather close them down than admit heterosexuals, women or lesbians.

Michiel Spaapen, owner of the homosexuals-only Amsterdam guesthouses in the City Bowl and Sea Point, said on Sunday that he was prepared to meet the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC), which was investigating a complaint against him.

Nevertheless, he would rather close his doors than change his admissions policy.

Good for them! Stand by your policy. They are your guesthouses. Just like Michigan, if people don’t agree with your policy, they won’t give you their business. Of course only gay men would really have that choice here. Do they have to be gay or just sleep with men? Or just desire to sleep with men? Desire to have an emotional connection with men? How do you really know who’s gay?
