PETA has distributed a letter from Martina Navratilova in which the tennis star speaks out against experiments on gay sheep attempting to “manipulate the sheep’s sexual preferences and make them heterosexual” being performed at Oregon State University and Oregon Health and Science University.

Excerpts found at GCN:

These experiments involve surgically installing an estrogen device in rams in an effort to alter gay sheep’s sexual preferences and using drugs to alter sex hormones in fetal sheep.

…snip…

How can it be that, in the year 2006, a major university would host such homophobic and cruel experiments? Oregon State’s justifications offered to PETA, which can only be surmised as an attempt to develop a prenatal treatment for various sexual conditions, are nonsense.

Gay.com:

According to the grant applications, the experimenters plan to extrapolate the test results to humans — with the insidious implication that homosexuality in people can be “cured.”
