I have good information that the virus was accidentally created in the late 60's early 70's in San Fransisco where there was a hepatitis epidemic among the gay community there [this could also have been deliberately caused] and volunteers where asked to have inoculations against it. This is verified by many scientists one of which actually worked close to the project and has campaigned and petitioned courts and medical research watchdogs since 1986. These facts [or not] are easy to find out and i am sorry that i have lent the Prophecy Club video to a friend, or else id have had more info to give.

I tend to agree with Ali - The Western World has become so distrusting of politician's that we tend to extend that cynicism to scientists. It doesn't help that we have Oil/Motor Corp. backed "think tanks" and religious leaders spending huge amounts of money telling us to doubt science on topics like Global Warming or Evolution. It all adds to a culture of cynicism which leaves us more open to believing rumour and to 'doublethink' the facts. Especially when you consider that EVERY conspiracy theorist presents only the arguments that support their case. They leave out the facts that would blow their theory of the water.

I'm sorry, but this is just uninformed. I say this as a queer person who is currently studying the sociology of health and epidemiology.

There are many scientific studies on the origins of HIV - reputable studies in peer-reviewed journals. Not anonymous websites sponsored by people with financial interests - researchers who spend years, decades, trying to discover more about the virus in the interest of knowledge, knowledge that might be the key to slowing its spread, or finding a cure. Researchers have demonstrated in studies that, like other viruses, HIV originally spread to humans via chimpanzees, after the mutation of forms of Simian Immunodeficiency Virus, SIV. (Other recent instances of this phenomenon are bird flu and SARS - cross-species transfer of viruses (zoonosis) is pretty common. Viruses mutate constantly, and humans or other animal species can be susceptible to some of these mutations.) HIV has been found in tissue samples as far back as 1959 in Congo. The "vaccine theory" you mention sounds like an urban legend which has roots in a discredited hypothesis that polio vaccination in Congo may have inadvertently spread the Simian Immunodeficiency Virus to humans, at which point it mutated into HIV. However, this has been discredited because there is no evidence, while there is much more evidence linking SIV-HIV transfer to the hunting of chimpanzees for food, although there is a high likelihood that pre-HIV medical practices did spread the viruses (before testing of transfusion blood began, and before sterile needles and other hospital equipment was recognized as being important in some countries with much lower health safety standards.)

The body of scientific knowledge on HIV is very large. I absolutely support questioning the official story and investigating everything, by the way. It's so important to ask questions. In fact, asking questions about results, questioning the official story, digging deeper into the origins of HIV, is what most researchers are doing. Ignoring their published results - which generally include, by the way, detailed methodologies - and buying into sensationalist conspiracy theories, though, does not lead to anything close to the truth.

So please, man, do some research for yourself. It's important. There are stacks and stacks of journals you can read (hell, beyond the regular medical journals like the Lancet, there are journals solely dedicated to AIDS research) or even just start with Wikipedia, or some of the sites of AIDS research foundations.
