Don’t Ask. Don’t Tell.

Don’t care at wartime.

An official military spokesperson has acknowledged that the Pentagon is sending openly gay service members into combat in Iraq. Kim Waldron, of the U.S. Army Forces Command at Fort McPherson, said that, “The bottom line is some people are using sexual orientation to avoid deployment. So in this case, with the Reserve and Guard forces, if a soldier ‘tells,’ they still have to go to war and the homosexual issue is postponed until they return to the U.S. and the unit is demobilized.” Waldron’s statements were reported in today’s edition of the Washington Blade.

Deadline Extended

No, not this one. This one.

And speaking of titles containing Stonewall…

“Stonewalled: Police abuse and misconduct against lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people in the United States” is a 150-plus page report that AI called the most comprehensive report of its kind to date.

“Quite simply, Amnesty International’s new report finds that police abuse and misconduct against members of the LGBT community is a persistent and widespread problem across the United States,” said Dr. William F. Schulz, executive director of Amnesty International USA.

Gay Priests Face a Difficult Decision

With the Vatican likely to bar gay men from becoming priest, gay priests (many of who feel they are being scapegoated for crimes committed by pedophiles) and seminarians are feeling torn on whether they will stay with the church. Today’s New York Times features Gay Men Ponder Impact of Proposal by Vatican.

“I feel like a Jew in Berlin in the 1930’s,” said a 48-year-old gay priest who has spent 18 years in a religious order. He said he was considering donning a pink triangle - the symbol used by the Nazis - and getting heterosexual priests and members of the laity to wear the triangles as a protest.

I wonder what the next big issue will be for the Catholic church once they become bored with homosexuality (or have completed the anti-gay to-do list). It certainly won’t be helping people.

They should work on getting their story straight on whether it’s okay to eat chicken on Fridays during Lent. And if it’s not, why is it okay to eat eggs? I asked a nun once when I was seven and she told me that “we don’t question things.” I would have asked her who she was referring to with “we,” but it wasn’t worth it.

Nuns never liked me and my silly little questions…

“Why do we need to make Communion?”

Because, Maria, if you don’t make Communion you can’t get married.

“I can’t get married? People who aren’t Catholic get married all the time.”

You can’t get married in the church.

“What if I never get married? I may be going through all this for nothing? I never said I wanted to be married in a church.”

Wednesday afternoons were so much fun.

A Step Forward in Russia

A St. Petersburg court has ruled that a person can not be denied a job because they are gay.

The man involved in this case is identified as VP. He was denied a job when a mental illness was found on his government file. This mental illness was his homosexuality and had been on his file since he was denied military service in 1992 for being gay (homosexuality was considered a mental illness in Russia at the time).

Unfortunately, the Russian legal system does not recognize precedent.

You Look Like a Boy

Adding sexual orientation to a non-discrimination policy isn’t much of a help to those being discriminated against because of their gender expression.

Library Board Upsets Ex-Lesbian

A former lesbian who became a Christian is among several residents calling on a local library to remove two provocative homosexual magazines from its shelves. The Board of Trustees for the Upper Arlington Public Library recently voted unanimously to continue displaying and distributing the publications Outlook Weekly and Gay People’s Chronicle.

A former lesbian who became a Christian? She couldn’t be a Christian when she was a lesbian?

The decision was made despite the concerns of individuals who object to the sexually explicit content of the two magazines. One such individual is Lancaster resident Deb French, a former lesbian, who believes the publications have been strategically placed in the library by “the enemy” to seduce the young minds of children.

It took a lot of work for me to get the “pornography” in that library. I had to completely alter the agenda and cut time from destroying healthy heterosexual marriages. The Upper Arlington Library Board of Trustees knows this and decided to keep the “pornography” because they know how nasty I can get.
