A person’s appearance is a message to the outside world. If it is slovenly, it says you don’t care what people think, not because you don’t like other people, but you don’t like yourself. You are behaving ‘offensively’ by creating an immediate distance between yourself and other people when you do not present yourself in an attractive manner. The word ‘attractive’ means to draw [something]. To ignore conventional societal values and make yourself into a display of not caring is a statement that you are asocial. This means you are afraid of rejection, yet you challenge it further to see how far your perception of being rejected will go. See? I told you people didn’t like me, just because I’m not attractive. It’s not good mental health to think that way. It can mean a lifetime of offensive behavior, not just in dress, but in your personal interactions. Most people who do this have been mistreated in their youth, so that they did not form a positive self-identity. This applies to all humans, no matter what their sexual orientation.

Unattractive is unattractive, gay or straight. Cynthia has very low self-esteem if she is attracted to this woman who has absolutely no sense of her appearance – she’s sloppy overweight and her hair is hideous. Who wears dinky banks with such wavy hair? Someone who could care less and who probably cuts their own hair. Too bad Cyn’s stylist hasn’t advised her partner. Being attracted to an unattractive person means you have little respect for yourself, no matter what business you’re in. Too bad it has to be such a public display for Cynthia.

I am actually quite relieved to see that a movie star whether straight, gay, or other is dating someone because they like them and not because they are going for a certain image. Not everyone looks like a superstar and it is refreshing to see that an actress didn’t force herself into the mold that she is expected to fill by dating a specific type of person…good for her.

How annoying is this? It reminds of the comments I have heard about so many people’s (male or female) girlfriends and wives. I hate how the tone is so much about compensating for this woman “not meeting expectations” or “not making a statement.” Kudos to Nixon for simply living her life as she wishes. I’ll be curious to see how they take the heat on this issue.
